King’s Art Show
Now in its 40th year, The King’s Annual Art Show is a coming together of the Australian Art community in the premier showcase of fine art.
Set within the picturesque grounds of The King’s School and staged over three days, this unique event provides some of Australia’s leading artists the opportunity to show their works in the demographic heart of Australia’s largest city.
Boasting the display of over 1,000 pieces of art, the 40th Annual Art Show is sure to be one of the signature events on the Australian Art calendar.
The 40th Annual Art Show kicks off on Friday, 13 September with the Opening Night.
King’s Art Prize
Now in its twenty-fifth year, The King’s School Art Prize has been awarded to some of Australia's leading contemporary artists.
The King’s Art Prize is a $20,000 acquisitive award presented to the artist judged the best contemporary artwork, created by an artist resident in Australia and represented by a commercial gallery, supporting both the artists and the fine arts industry. Entry is by invitation only and the finalists are selected by an appointed Art Prize panel.
The Art Prize was founded by long time patrons Sue Hewitt (former director of Christie’s) and Tim Olsen (Olsen Irwin Gallery). An esteemed guest makes the final decision on each year’s winner. In 2019 the King’s School Art Prize guest judge is philanthropist and Australian businessman, Patrick Corrigan AM.
Over the last 25 years, The King’s Art Prize has proudly boasted inclusion of such artists as: Aida Tomescu, Lyndal Brown and Charles Green, John Olsen, Jason Benjamin, Jacquie Stockdale, Peter Churcher, Joanna Logue, Nicholas Harding, Martine Emdur, Ashley Frost, Rodney Pople, Ben Quilty, Nicholas Blowers, Geoffrey de Groen, Gloria Petyarre, Ross Laurie, Euan Macleod, Geoff Dyer and Jun Chen.
The King’s School congratulates McLean Edwards – Dining In – Winner of the 25th King’s Art Prize which was awarded on Friday, 13 September at the Gala Opening of the 40th Annual Art Show. The School thanks all of the 2019 finalists for their participation.
